Hi NOOF homies,

Instead of looking at the new OHL schedule and putting on my sweet red hat and figuring out which games are NOOF-a-Palooza (we can have that conclave later, of course), I decided to create for myself a new dilemma.

It seems that I have so many jerseys now that most of them will be worn to only one Spirit home game this season. In other words, I've been trying to match up jerseys with specific dates on the calendar.

It then occurs to me that I don't really care which night I wear which jersey, and that Saginaw as well as visiting fans might enjoy having a say as to which jersey I wear which night.

I'll list the jerseys, and if you want to see that jersey worn on the night Saginaw plays your team, then go ahead and tell me.

I can think of one exception -- I won't wear a NY Rangers jersey on a night when we play Kitchener. Also, I try to avoid wearing the colors of the visiting team whenever possible. That's the reason why I usually don't wear the Centennials throwback when Sarnia is in town.

Guy Lafleur
early 1970s red Canadiens
1980s blue Nordiques

Guy Lapointe
early 1970s red Canadiens
1972 Team Canada white
1980s yellow/blue Blues
1980s white Bruins

Guy Charron
early 1970s red Red Wings
1970s blue Scouts
1970s white Capitals

Guy Chouinard
1970s red Flames

Guy Hebert
1990s purple Mighty Ducks
early 2000s white NY Rangers

Guy Carbonneau
1993 red Canadiens
1999 green/black Stars
2009 Legends Skate white Canadiens

Red Wings
1997 white Shanahan
1998 red Yzerman
2002 white Lidstrom
2008 red McCarty

Centennials
1993 black throwback
2002 Steve Dix gameworn

Spirit
2006 white Tim Priamo game ready
2013 cream Cody Payne game worn -- I am already leaning towards wearing this when Windsor visits on December 20. Tentatively, that will probably be my 500th OHL game, as well as the "1 year anniversary" rematch of the outdoor game vs. Windsor from last year.

Paul Bissonnette
OHL All Star game in Peterborough gameworn
white Coyotes Edge authentic

white 2001-02 Albany River Rats Mike Commodore gameworn
blue 1980 Team USA replica

plus I plan to wear these on specific evenings:
red Saginaw Spirit Disco Stu -- opening night vs. Erie on September 24
black Mississauga IceDogs Disco Stu -- against North Bay on January 10

I always wear the IceDogs jersey when we play the Battalion. It is a running gag of sorts. If you can find any of the old Brampton NOOFers, especially the in-laws of NOOFer Day of the Dog, they can probably tell you why.

So, thats 29 jerseys, and if I skip the mid day Education game again, that means that I will go to 33 home games, leaving little room for duplication. So have at it, first come, first serve, on me wearing that jersey to the night when your team plays. Or you could just ignore me. I've already got a tentative schedule figured out, but it can change. Either way, its cool.

Ok, now I'm hoping the Spirit get totally CRUSHED on January 10th. Then we can blame it on the Icedogs jersey!! :D
GO TROOPS GO!!

Having said that, I think your Guy Lapointe should be worn at whatever game is closest to the night the Canadiens hoist his number to the rafters in Montreal.

Good call on Lapointe, although I have no idea when that will be. Hopefully the Canadiens announce the date fairly soon.

Yzerman is from Ottawa, so if you weren't going to wear it to the Petes game (which might send the wrong message), you could wear it to the 67's game.

Disco Stu is still trying to figure out why you can share a Coke with Manpreet and Dakota but you can't share a Coke with Guy.

Up your nose with a rubber hose, Coca-Cola Canada.

PS - Can't share one with Gordie either. Or Maurice. What the heck, eh?

Thank you for the link, DiscoStu. I was wondering who one could share a Coke with.....er....with one could share a Coke. :P

And, I agree. Can't share a Coke with Trevor.

(I'm a Pepsi drinker anyway, so it's THEIR loss! )

Can't share a Coke with Hudson (my nephew) and Sawyer (my niece) either.

Wow.

Are they playing Forest City National?

Someone might find a pink golf ball deep in the trees and think she had a bad day.

Tentatively, this is my schedule. I still have until the beginning of the season to change it.

I can always adjust it during the season, but when I wear a jersey it is done for the season (at home, anyway).

5-Sep Friday Preseason Game 1 Michigan State
12-Sep Friday Preseason Game 2 Lumberkings
24-Sep Wednesday Erie Americans Crawford
27-Sep Saturday Sarnia Capitals McNeill
11-Oct Saturday London 1972 Team Canada Lapointe
12-Oct Sunday Peterborough River Rats Commodore
18-Oct Saturday Kitchener Centennials black
1-Nov Saturday Sault Sainte Marie Coyotes Bissonnette
2-Nov Sunday Kingston Canadiens Lapointe
14-Nov Friday Windsor Stars green Carbonneau
15-Nov Saturday Oshawa Scouts Charron
21-Nov Friday Niagara Spirit Cream Payne
22-Nov Saturday Erie Centennials white Dix
26-Nov Wednesday Sarnia Red Wings Charron
29-Nov Saturday Windsor Blues Lapointe
6-Dec Saturday Sarnia Rangers Hebert
7-Dec Sunday Guelph Spirit White Priamo
20-Dec Saturday Windsor Spirit Red Disco Stu
28-Dec Sunday Sault Sainte Marie 1980 Team USA
3-Jan Saturday Sarnia Canadiens red Carbonneau
9-Jan Friday Sault Sainte Marie Ducks Hebert
10-Jan Saturday North Bay IceDogs Disco Stu
16-Jan Friday Sudbury Canadiens white 100th Carbonneau
17-Jan Saturday Guelph Bruins Lapointe
29-Jan Thursday Plymouth Capitals Charron
31-Jan Saturday Belleville Red Wings McCarty
6-Feb Friday Owen Sound OHL All Star Bissonnette
7-Feb Saturday Mississauga Canadiens Charron
11-Feb Wednesday Plymouth Flames red Chouinard
13-Feb Friday Sault Sainte Marie Nordiques Lafleur
14-Feb Saturday Barrie Red Wings Lidstrom
27-Feb Friday Ottawa Red Wings Yzerman
28-Feb Saturday London Canadiens Lafleur M&N
3-Mar Tuesday Plymouth TBD
14-Mar Saturday Plymouth Red Wings Shanahan
21-Mar Saturday Kitchener TBD

TBD on the Whalers game because it is the 10:45 AM game and I probably won't be there.
TBD on the last game because I might make one acquisition during the season and so I'll keep that last slot open for it. I guess it won't be a Guy Lafleur Rangers jersey.

One more post to prove I am bored waiting for the hockey to start.

If I had all the time in the world and money was no problem, I would put together a giant road trip to visit all 60 CHL rinks in one season.

It turns out, you can basically do it with a month in the season to spare, even if you allow yourself no more than 7 hours of driving per day. I even allowed myself to come home for Christmas break.

For someone from Saginaw, it would roll out like this.

Date Game Local Time
9/24/2014 Erie at Saginaw 7:11 PM
9/26/2014 Belleville at Guelph 7:30 PM
10/1/2014 Calgary at Lethbridge 7:00 PM

Now, all I have to do is win the lotto and then quit work. Except I don't lotto. Oh well.

Fun facts: the teams that were hard to fit were Guelph/London and Red Deer. I couldn't fit both London and Guelph because they were only available on the same night. So I had to move Guelph up to September where I wasn't going to put another OHL game. Red Deer proved to be such a pain in the butt that I had to stop, erase everything I had up to that point, and start over. Other than that, it was actually pretty easy to put together.

Otto is not coming next Saturday, but I am still going to wear the 1972 Team Canada jersey. Sunday will be the Mike Commodore gameworn. Some of you might get the joke, but the other story is that the jersey comes from the year (2001-02) when I lived in Albany NY, and Commodore is the only player on that team who has gone on to play for the Red Wings. Two other noteworthy members of that season's River Rats team include Mike Rupp and Brian Gionta.

The River Rats were the primary affiliate of the New Jersey Devils. For fun, here are the NHL players of the 2001-02 Albany River Rats and the number of regular season NHL games each has played:

Brian Gionta 776
Mike Rupp 610
Andrei Zyuzin 496
Mike Commodore 484
Ted Drury 414
Joel Bouchard 364
Bruce Gardiner 312
Steve Guolla 205
Scott Clemmensen 188
Pierre Dagenais 142
Christian Berglund 86
Andreas Salomonsson 71
Jiri Bicek 62
Josef Boumedienne 47
Mike Rucinski 26
Sascha Goc 22
Rob Skrlac 8
Sylvain Cloutier 7
Jean-Francois Damphousse 6
Stanislav Gron 1
Mikko Jokela 1

I'll be representin' on Sunday. The Commodore jersey (which is the home one, by the way) doesn't show a ton of wear, because he only played 14 games for Albany that year, of which some were home and some were road. He spent most of the year in New Jersey where he got into 37 games for the Devils, the last 37 he played for NJ before finding his way to Calgary, and then went to Carolina where he won a Stanley Cup in 2006. He later went to Ottawa, followed by Columbus, Detroit, and Tampa Bay, and was in the KHL last year. He is 35 now and I think he is trying to return to the NHL with Montreal, and based on the quick skimming I just did, has a pretty active and funny Twitter account. Someone tweet him that I'll be rocking his River Rats gamer at the Saginaw Spirit game on Sunday.
