I wondered about this when I heard about the impending move of the St. John's Ice Caps to Thunder Bay. I then heard the rumblings about the Bulldogs moving out to St. John's to fill the Ice Caps void.

This news, however, about the Bulls moving to Hamilton has come a bit out of left field, no?

Can't help but feel awful for the fans in Belleville if all of this comes to fruition (and it appears it will be...), but overall, a healthy team in Hamilton is probably quite good for the OHL.

Are the fans in Erie breathing a sigh of relief...?

Sad day in the OHL..

Belleville is a great hockey town, I will miss their rivalry with the Fronts.

I really hope to see them back in the OHL sooner rather than later, ask the people of North Bay, it's possible.

Early favorites for the team name are the Hamilton Plentyofseatsleft.

Wow, that sucks. The league won't be the same without the Bulls, and the 67s and Kingston will be lonely all the way out here in Eastern Ontario.

I knew they were having 'issues' but I didn't realize it was '11th hour' stuff. I've been to the Yardmen and it just seemed like a standard junior arena. Were the issues around the size? Private boxes? Was it just an attendance issue?

If there is no saving them, I hope the Bulls 2.0 will be coming around the corner.

Shocked that it happened so quickly but, with all the franchise talk of the need for a new rink, I'm not shocked that they moved.

One a related note, does the league move one of the Steelheads or Colts to the East Division or do the Generals join Hamilton in the Central, with North Bay and Sudbury moving to the East, thus angering Ottawa, Kingston and Peterborough?

Word on the other hockey forum is that the schedule is set for next year so Hamilton stays East until 2016/17.

I don't think a sched would be set in stone (otherwise they could release it), tentative dates of play probably have to be submitted by now. Hamilton to the Center, NB to East?

Saw a release Toast posted on Facebook confirming the east for next season. If they make changes in 16/17 there's no way they move North Bay and not Sudbury. If they only flip one team it would be Mississauga or Barrie, with the former more likely IMO to keep Barrie with the two Northern teams in their division,

With the move I think we will see some changes division wise heading into 2016-2017.

I saw someone post on another board a proposed new South Division which I think makes some sense.

West: SSM, Saginaw, Flint, Sarnia, Windsor
South: Erie, Niagara, Hamilton, London, Kitchener

Central: Sudbury, North Bay, Barrie, Owen Sound, Guelph
East: Ottawa, Kingston, Oshawa, Peterborough, Mississauga

Only problem I see is splitting up the Rangers and Storm, but what an OHL Final that would be if they met!!

Seating capacity is what....around 14,000 ?
Hamilton's third go at an OHL franchise.
When the former Bulls get there, fans better hope that the new owners
don't bring Burnett, Grimes and Supryka with them. Their coaching style
will make a 14,000 seat building look pretty empty with only a couple
thousand of those seats filled. The team looks capable for next season
(Hamiton's honeymoon period), but after that there's not much.

And here we are...still waiting to see what they will name the team going to Flint.

So...that's TWO cities I will not see the Knights win in. Plymouth is the other one. :(

Wow sucks for Ottawa, our "Divisional" games will be further than our conference games (well exception of St. Cat, but that is only 50km further)

We play in Sudbury only once because of distance (and so they can play SSM more) and Hamilton is 30 minutes further.

There moving to St. John's Newfoundland and the current Ice Caps are moving to Winnipeg to play at the MTS Centre.
